Lab Coat

The lab coat is a common sight in tv tropes when used to indicate that the actor is a scientist. In reality, the design makes it so that it is not too obstructive & yet the length of the coat provides some protection against possibly hazardous chemicals in the lab. The white color also helps in being indicative of the chemical stains that might have occurred during the experiment to provide better information for safety procedures should an accident occur.
